Learn more about Eurythmy Therapy!

January 30, 2023

Our range of therapies are a key strand of our approach which integrates education, therapies and expert care in a holistic therapeutic environment with onsite medical support.

One of the many therapies that we provide is Eurythmy Therapy.

Eurythmy Therapy came about in the early 20th century and was developed from Art of Eurythmy.

Eurythmy is an expressive form of movement based on the sounds of speech (poetry, in the case of artistic presentation) and music. It can be described as ensouled movement and participating in eurythmy as an artistic activity, can enhance general wellbeing.

The therapy is tailored to each individual student to ensure they get the most from the therapy. Certain movements and gestures for specific vowel or consonant sounds are chosen for a particular individual. These are then practiced repeatedly in an enhanced form which is aimed at very specific outcomes.

At Camphill School Aberdeen our pupils and young people can access a course of regular individual eurythmy sessions with a qualified therapist, with over 20 years of experience. Sessions last between 20 and 30 minutes, depending on need and take place once (sometimes twice) a week.

Benefits of Eurythmy therapy include:

  • Lessening anxiety
  • Enhanced vitality
  • Increased calm and ability to focus
  • Strengthened boundaries and a sense of protection
  • Diminishing of sensory overload
  • Improved breathing and circulation
  • Improvement in proprioception and spatial orientation
  • Emotional stability and self-regulation
