Creating an inclusive space that offers meaningful work opportunities, celebrates our heritage, and reflects our mutual respect for each other and the environment.
Murtle Market is our sustainable social enterprise charity which has been developed as part of our Building Futures, Transforming Lives appeal. This sustainable shop, café, and heritage hub is our first public-facing venture. Local and seasonal produce is sold, as well as refilling schemes for dried food and environmentally friendly cleaning products.
Murtle Market promises to provide:
The development of skills, meaningful work opportunities and place of authenticity for children and young adults with learning disabilities and complex additional support needs.
A venture to showcase our local seasonal organic produce, zero waste principles and sustainable heritage arts and crafts.
A place to connect with our community, engage with sustainable living practices and our ethos of learning through doing.
All brought to you by Camphill School Aberdeen – be part of our journey to care for each other and the environment.
Skills our young people will gain:
Customer service
Money-handling
Communication
Problem solving
Teamwork
Resilience
Although some of our young people will not play a public-facing role in Murtle Market, they will have the opportunity to be indirectly involved. Arts and crafts created by the young people will be displayed and available to purchase in Murtle Market. Also, our young people help in our organic walled gardens where some of the seasonal produce will be grown.
We’ll be launching online ordering soon but, in the meantime, you can browse some of our products here. We look forward to welcoming you to the market!
