The start of a global movement
Camphill School Aberdeen was established in 1940 on Camphill Estate in Milltimber by Austrian paediatrician Dr Karl König and other Austrian refugees fleeing World War II. We became the first shared living community and school for children with additional support needs in the UK.
The start of a global movement
Since then, it has grown to become a worldwide movement and now consists of over 120 independent charities globally, six of which are based in the north-east of Scotland.
Each has a shared mission to transform the lives of children and adults with learning disabilities and complex additional support needs.
We are proud of our rich history, and it all started here in Aberdeen!
